Five people including four of family of Madaripur district were killed and four others injured when a bus rammed a microbus at a place under Muksudpur upazila in Gopalganj district on Wednesday morning.

The accident happened at about 11:30am on Wednesday when a passenger bus rammed the microbus  at Domarkandi area under Muksudpur upazila in Gopalganj district on the Dhaka-Barishal highway. At that time, acute traffic congestion was created on both sides of the highway. Receiving information, police and fire service personnel went there and normalised the movement of traffic.
It was learnt that three sisters together were going to their father's house at Gopalpur in Kalkini upazila of Madaripur district hiring a microbus from Dhaka. They were killed in the tragic road accident on their way. The microbus driver was also killed in the accident.

The deceased were identified as Nasima Begum, 62, Salma Begum, 58, and Asma Begum, 56 -- daughters of Kazi Abdul Hamid of Gopalpur of Gopalpur union under Dashar upazila in Madaripur district. Besides, aunt of three sisters Komol Banu, 75, was also killed. Komol Banu was the wife of Kazi Humayun Kabir of the same area. The identity of the deceased microbus driver could not be known.

Those who were injured identified as microbus passenger and deceased three sisters' relative Kazi Humayun Kabir, Khairul Alam Kazi and Nazma Begum.

Police, local and family sources said a Dhaka-bound speeding passenger bus belonging to 'Global Paribahan' from Barishal rammed a Madaripur-bound microbus near Chhagolchira Bus Stand, killing five microbus passengers including its driver on board and injuring four others.

Police with the help of Fire Service members recovered the bodies.

Bhanga Highway Police's SI Noman and Madaripur Fire Service's deputy director Shafiqul Islam confirmed the accident news.

On information, police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies, said deputy director of Madaripur Fire Service and Civil Defense Department Shafiqul Islam.
