A Chattogram court has sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment for drug trading.
Chattogram Metropolitan Additional Sessions Judge Court-4 Judge Shariful Alam Bhuiyan handed down the verdict on Monday in absence of the convict.
The court also fined him Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer one-year more in jail.
The convict is Asaduzzaman, hailed from Cumilla district.
According to the prosecution, on July 4 in 2012, acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB detained Assaduzzaman with 540 bottles of Phensedyl from Old railway station under Kotwali thana of Chattogram.
Deputy Assistant Director of the RAB Kazi Mizanur Rahman filed a case with Kotwali thana against the alleged drug trader on the same day.
On July 29 in 2012, police submitted a charge-sheet before the court against him and the court framed charges on 22 May, 2013.
