CHATTOGRAM, March 11: The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) has started sale of consumer goods at subsidized price for the low-income people in fasting month of Ramadan, that begins from Tuesday subject to the sighting of the crescent moon.
CCCI President Omar Hazzaz inaugurated the sale program in front of the citys World Trade Center on Monday. Chamber Directors AKM Akhtar Hossain, Md Ahid Siraj Chowdhury (Swapan), Mahfuzul Haque Shah and Mohammad Monir Uddin were also present.
During the inauguration, Chamber President Omar Hazzaz said that the government has taken various programs along with reducing the duty on consumer goods to keep the prices stable and affordable during Ramadan. Also through TCB, crores of families are being given the opportunity to purchase products at a low price.
"Every year on the occasion of Holy Ramadan, CCCI sells essential consumer goods at subsidized prices to the people of low income. In continuation of this, we are starting this program this year as well. This program will continue from 1st Ramadan to 26th Ramadan," Hazzaz said.
