A court in Sirajganj district placed suspended teacher Dr Raihan Sharif on a five-day remand for questioning in a case filed under the Arms Act in connection with shooting at Shaheed M Mansur Ali Medical College student Arafat Amin Tomal.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Md Billal Hossain accepted the five-day remand prayer following an appeal of even-day remand.

Investigation officer DB sub-inspector Ibrahim Hossain confirmed the matter.

He said, "We pleaded for seven-day remand for questioning Raihan Sharif whether there is anybody involved with him or not. He will be taken to remand from jail after legal procedure."
In primary investigation, it was proved that the gun he used was illegal.

Dr Raihan Sharif used to carry weapons and knives in his bag and deliver lecture keeping those on the table, police said quoting the students.
