President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Wednesday asked the members of Bangladesh Police to provide selfless services to the people being their faithful friends as he addressed a function on "Police Week 2024" at the Bangabhaban in Dhaka in the afternoon, reports BSS.

"Police is the only place of dependence for the common people… Always render selfless services to the people. Police in Bangabandhu's Bangladesh will always stand by the people as a friend and ensure security," he told senior police officers here on the second day of the ongoing police week.
The head of state said, "People always believe that police will help them. You have to be more dedicated to earn public trust by providing services to the people."

He added: "The common people are still afraid to go to the police station, none wants to go to the police station unless absolutely forced."

The President suggested police to remove unnecessary fear or the fear of troubles from people's minds.
