Stop irregularities at BNCU

Dear sir,

The Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO (BNCU), the only national liaison office of Bangladesh government with UNESCO, is located in Dhaka at the International Mother Language Institute Building that works under direct supervision of the Ministry of Education.

Currently this highly dignified office of the government has got mired into corruption, nepotism and a sanctuary of forged bills-vouchers to plunder money from the government allocations against different projects. Particularly, different acts of irregularities concerning the project allocation grants for UNESCO Participation programme is worth mentioning.  It was also learned that unethical financial transactions were made in sorting the proposals, while many proposals of national interest are ignored and kept aside.   
Under general government rules an officer is not supposed to serve here in the Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO, Ministry of Education for more than 3 years on deputation. But surprisingly, flouting general rules, some officers have been posted here for more than 10 to 16 years in deputation. As a result some of them have made it a haven of immoral and unethical transactions, causing long term absence from teaching in government colleges.

Concerned observers and eminent people and educationist from civil society urge the Ministry of Education for assigning an Investigation committee to dig into the acts of corruption in Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO (BNCU).
