City’s anti-drug drive should continue

The recent efforts of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in combating the menace of drug trafficking are commendable. In the last 24 hours leading up to 6:00 am on Monday, the DMP conducted a series of targeted anti-drug operations across various areas of Dhaka. These operations resulted in the arrest of 22 individuals found in possession of illicit substances. Under the vigilant supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner KN Roy Niyati, these arrests mark a significant step towards curbing the spread of narcotics in our community.

During the course of these raids, a substantial amount of contraband was confiscated, including 32.103 kilograms of hemp and 92 bottles of phensedyl syrup. Such seizures not only disrupt the supply chain of illegal drugs but also prevent their distribution within our neighborhoods, safeguarding our citizens, particularly the youth, from the harmful effects of substance abuse.
The proactive stance of the DMP sends a strong message that drug trafficking will not be tolerated in Dhaka. We commend their efforts and urge continued support from the community in this vital endeavour to create a safer and drug-free environment for all.
