Three activists of an Awami League nominated candidate were sentenced to seven days imprisonment for obstructing voters from entering a polling centre in Meherpur Sadar Upazila on Sunday.
The three AL supporters are --Yunus Ali, Niamat Ali and Nazrul Islam.
Quoting locals, police said that the supports of Awami League nominated candidate Farhad Hossain, the incumbent MP and also state minister for Public Administration, obstructed voters from entering a polling station at Kolaidanga village in Meherpur Sadar Upazila.
During this time, an altercation took place with Bulbuli, who is a supporter of Truck candidate Professor Abdul Mannan, that left her injured.
Police arrested the AL activists and later Executive Magistrate Md Abir Hossain sentenced them to seven days imprisonment.
