A teenager was killed and another injured in a
road accident at Nakla upazila in
Sherpur district on Friday night.
The accident took place at Friday midnight in Darbarchar area under Char Ashtadhar union in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Md Monirul Islam, 18, son of Kolimuddin, a resident of Narayankhola area while the injured is Shahid Mia, 17, of Bararchar area of the upazila.
According to locals, the duo was returning from a waz mahfil held at Kajaikata area, riding on a motorbike. On the way, the driver of the bike lost control over the steering of the vehicle and hit a roadside tree, leaving the both critically injured.
They were taken to Nakla Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared Monirul dead and referred the injured to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Nakla Police Station officer-in-charge Md Abdul Qader Mia said being informed, police recovered the body and handed over to the family members upon their request.
