Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a fugitive convicted, who was sentenced to life term imprisonment in a murder case on 1998, from Roufabad area under the port city’s Biyazid Police Station on Sunday night.
The convicted is Belel Hossain, 51, son of Aminur Rahman, hailed from Banglapara village under Bhujpur Police Station of the district.
Senior Assistant Director of RAB-7, Nurul Abser said the accused Belal Hossain killed his step mother in 1998 following a family feud.
The victim’s brother filed a murder case with Chief Judicial Magistrate against him as main accused.
Later, a Chattogram court awarded life term imprisonment to Belal Hossain and fined Taka 50,000, in default, he will has to serve more six months of rigorous imprisonment.
He was, later, handed over to Bhujpur Police Station for further legal action, the RAB official added.
