Two children drown in Ctg pond

Two minor children drowned in separate places at Banshkhali upazila in Chattogram district on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Rifat Mia, one and half year old boy of Ahmed Shafi, a resident of Boirag Para area under Shilkup union of the upazila and Muntasir, 3, son of Absar Uddin, of Banshkhali municipality area.
Local said Muntasir slipped into the pond while playing on the bank of a pond in the morning. Getting no whereabouts of Muntasir for a long time, his family searched for him and rescued him from the waterbody.

He was taken to Banshkhali Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead.

In another incident, Rifat was playing at the yard of his house at Newazpara of Banshkhali municipality area. Suddenly he fell into the pond and drowned there.

Later, he was taken to the local upazila health complex where the doctors pronounced him dead.

Dr Hirok Kumar Pal and Dr Hasan, two duty officers of the upazila health complex said the children were brought dead at the hospital within a span of an hour.
