Awami League, law enforcing agencies indulge in arson terrorism: BNP

Ruling Awami League and law enforcing agencies have been jointly carrying out arson terrorism in the country, alleged the opposition BNP on Tuesday (October 31, 2023).

"They have been setting fire to vehicles and and different installations one after another deliberately. Their motives are clear to all. With the objective of reaping benefits from the current political turmoil in Bangladesh, they have indulged in arresting the opposition BNP activists, and imprisoning them through farcical judgements of courts. Police swooped on the peaceful siege programme of the opposition like desperate hyenas," said BNP's senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday.
Addressing a virtual press conference, the BNP leader said, "In spite of being the victims of utter humiliation in the hands of the regime, unarmed democracy-loving people have stood against the government. They have taken to the streets in bare hands and build resistance against the regime. They are trying to resist the killers taking brickbats from the streets."

Rizvi also alleged that on the first day of three-day blockade programme on Tuesday, the government killed three BNP leaders and workers.

"Leaders and workers of the grassroots level of BNP have been sacrificing their lives and blood every moment in every day, because they have been continuing the democracy restoration struggle keeping looted humanity in their mind. Their non-violent and peaceful programmes are for ensuring the existence of Bangladesh. This struggle is for real freedom of some 180 million people of the country," he said.

Rizvi also alleged that a vested quarter of Police-RAB-BGB have been carrying out attacks on the unarmed leaders and workers of BNP in a planned way. Like the battle field, they have been using bullets, teargas shells, charge batons, throwing sound grenades, using armed vehicles and modern weapons. They have been joined by the terrorist groups of Chhatra League and Jubo League. These miscreants have been attacking BNP leaders and workers with steel pipes, lathis, bamboos, stumps, hockey sticks and chapatis etc.

The press conference was also attended by BNP's Health Affairs Adviser Dr Rafiqul Islam and assistant economic affairs secretary Mahmudur Rahman Sumon.
