Police recovered the body of an autorickshaw driver, who was reportedly killed by muggers on Monday, from Chaparkona Bazaar at Sarishabari upazila in Jamalpur district on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified was Modhu Mia, 45, son of late Kashem Ali, a resident of Hasra Majalia village under Doail union of the upazila.
Quoting the deceased's family, Doail Union Parishad Chairman Abdur Razzak said Modhu Mia went out of his house in Monday afternoon and didn't returned home.
Later, on Tuesday afternoon, police recovered the body from the Jhenai River and sent to a hospital morgue for autopsy, said Mohabbat Kabir, officer-in-charge of Sarishabari Police Station.
"It was assumed that muggers might have killed the victim first and robbed his autorickshaw but the actual reason behind the death would be known after investigation," the OC added.
