Juranpur Adarsha Degree College in Cumilla's Daudkandi upazila has officially welcomed the eleventh class fresher students.
The college authority organized a freshers reception ceremony at the college campus on Sunday.
Major General (Retd) Subid Ali Bhuiyan, founder of the college and Member of Parliament, was present as the chief guest at the occasion with the college Principal Shariful Islam in the chair.
Cumilla Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Chairman Md Jamal Naser was present as guest of honour while Assistant Commissioner (Land) Ziaur Rahman and Assistant Professor Mohtasim Billah Sarkar were present as special guests.
Chief guest Subid Ali Bhuiyan in his speech talked about various issues including the establishment of the college, the plight of the college in the past, the enviable results of this college at present, reputation and discipline.
He said to the students - "Napoleon Bonaparte said Give me an educated mother, I shall promise you the birth of a civilized, educated nation". So the role of mother in education is very important.
Earlier, all the fresher students were welcomed with flowers.
