Chinese engineer's body found floating on Khulna river

The floating body of a Chinese national was found in the River Bhairab at Khalishpur Charer Haat in Khulna city on Saturday.

Nimai Mondal, officer-in-charge (OC) of Khalishpur Police Station, said that being informed by local people, police recovered the body of the Chinese national at about 10:00am.
The reason behind the death could not be known immediately, he added.

Khulna PBI inspector Abdullah Al Mamun Biswas said they went to the spot receiving information. "We are investigating the matter."

It is learnt that Chinese engineer Wang Siao Khui went out of home in the evening on August 24 last for a barber shop to cut his hair. His translator said he did not come back at night. Then a general diary was lodged with Khalishpur Police Station. Police are investigating the matter. But, his whereabout could not be traced until Friday.

"On Saturday morning, several of us started searching Wang Siao Khui in the river after hiring a boat. After going some distance, we saw a body was floating on the river Bhairab. Then we recivered the body with the help of police and identified it as Wang Siao Khui. He was an electrical engineer at our company. He used to work at under-construction 800 megawatt Rupsha CC PP project," said Tuhin Mia, interpreter of Sundong Sunlong Sun Hui Electrical Company.

Meanwhile, receiving information, Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commissioner Mozammel Huq went to the spot.

H esaid the police are investigating the mysterious death of Chinese engineer. "We hope that we will be able to unearth the mystery after the postmortem of the victim," he said.
