23 collect BNP's nomination forms to contest by-elections in four seats


Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) started selling nomination forms from Thursday as part of finalising its candidates for by-elections in four vacant seats of Jatiya Sangsad.

BNP central office sources said five nominations seekers bought nomination forms in Dhaka-18 constituency, two in Dhaka-5 constituency, three in Sirajganj-1 constituency and nine in Naogaon-6 constituency.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said 23 nomination seekers collected forms for contesting the by-elections in four vacant seats. Of them, three submitted their forms. Distribution and selling of forms will be take place today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday).

On Saturday, interview of the nomination seekers will be held at the BNP Chairperson's political office at Gulshan in Dhaka.

City Jubo Dal (North) president and central Jubo Dal vice-president SM Jahangir Hossain, Dhaka City (North) joint general secretary Kafil Uddin, BNP leaders Ismail Hossain, Haji Mostofa Zaman Segun and young businessman Bahauddin Saadi collected nomination forms to contest by-polls in Dhaka-18 constituency.

To contest by-election in Dhaka-5 constituency, BNP Dhaka City South vice-president and former ward councilor Nabi Ullah Nabi and BNP's Mass Education Affairs secretary and teachers' leader Professor Selim Bhuiyan collected nomination forms.

For contesting the by-election in Naogaon-6 constituency, the nominations forms were collected by Anwar Hossain, Abdus Shukur, SM Faruque James, Mahmudul Arefin Swapan, Esahaq Ali, Atiqur Rahman Ratan Molla, Sheikh Md Rezaul Islam, Md Shafiqul Islam and Abu Sayeed Rafiqul Alam Rafique.

To contest by-election in Sirajganj-1 constituency, TM Tahjibul Rahman Tushar, Nazmul Hasan Talukder Rana and Md Rabiul Hasan collected nomination forms.

Voting in the by-elections in Dhaka-5 and Naogaon-6 constituencies will be held on October 17. The last date of submitting nomination papers in these two constituencies is September 17. The last date of scrutinising the nomination papers is September 20. The last date for withdrawal of nomination paper is September 27, while the symbols will be allocated on September 28.

Besides, schedules of by-elections in Sirajganj-1 and Dhaka-18 constituencies have not yet been declared.
