Canada is my dreamland. Should I go for Masters or PhD, and which one will be helpful for getting job in Canada?

Problem
Dear Sir,
I am Sudipta Bain and have recently completed my Masters degree from Asian Institute of Technology in the field of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering. My Masters Coursework (26 credits) CGPA is 2.87 and thesis (22 credits) grade is 4 out of 4 (Excellent). In addition, I have one conference paper published by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Canada is my dreamland and I want to build my career in Canada. My inquiries are given below: Should I go for PhD or Masters for research purpose, again as my CGPA is very low? Which one will be helpful for getting job in Canada? If I want to apply for Masters degree, should I mention about my recent Masters degree at the time of applying? I am very much interested in pursuing further degree on Materials Science and Engineering. Are jobs available in this field in Canada because this field is mainly research based? Please give me some suggestions about getting fund.
Regards,
Sudipta Bain

Solution
Thanks for your nice queries dear Mr. Sudipta. Please remember that most of the Canadian universities require a CGPA score of 3.00 (scale 4.00) for admission in MS or PhD. If you have that score then apply for PhD degree. You must also have at least a 6.50 Band in IELTS examination. Please write directly to the Canadian professors and mention him that you want to do PhD under his/her supervision. Since you are a student of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, it is better to apply in your subject and also in the related subjects like Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering, Mechatronics, Materials Science and Engineering. If you limit your field of application then it may be difficult to get scholarship in Canadian universities. At first you can try your desired subject. Generally, after getting MS degree from Canada, you can apply to many companies. After getting PhD, you can do Post Doctorate and then your field of expertise will be limited to the specific academic/research position. Researcher on Materials Science has a good demand in Canadian universities/research organizations/industries. If you can do research in the applied field then you can get a good job in the Canadian companies. My last suggestion to you: please write immediately because this is the perfect time to contact Canadian professors.
All the best for your career in Canada.
