Bangladesh A stormed into the final of the Women’s Asia Cup Rising Star tournament with a commanding 54 run victory over Pakistan in the semifinal on Friday.
Batting first, Bangladesh posted 110 for 8 in their allotted overs. In reply, Pakistan were bundled out for just 56, undone by a disciplined spin attack from the hosts.
Bangladesh will face India in the final on February 22.
After losing the toss and being sent in to bat, Bangladesh struggled early as their top order faltered. The team lost three wickets for 44 runs. Ishma Tanjim scored 12 off 23 balls, Shamima Sultana made 13 off 13, and Sharmin Sultana added 15 from 20 deliveries.
A crucial unbeaten 40 off 32 balls steadied the innings and guided Bangladesh to a modest but competitive total of 110.
Pakistan, however, failed to capitalize on the manageable target. Their batters found it difficult to cope with the spin duo of Sanjida Akter Meghla and captain Fahima Khatun. Opener Shawal Zulfiqar top scored with 14, while Hafsa Khalid made 12 and Yusra Amir added 11. No other batter reached double figures.
Meghla was the standout performer with the ball, claiming three wickets for just 6 runs. Fahima Khatun took two wickets, while Faria, Fatema and Farzana chipped in with one apiece.
The comprehensive win secured Bangladesh’s place in the final as they look to lift the regional title against India.
