Habiganj clash: death toll rises to 3

The death toll from the clash between two groups at a village in Habiganj's Baniachong upazila has risen to three after a man succumbed to his injuries.

Earlier, two people died on the spot and more than 50 were injured in the clash at Agua village in the afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Kadir, 25, Siraj Miah, 50, and Lilu Miah.

Additional superintendent of police (Baniachong circle) Palash Ranjan Dey said two groups of the village were locked in a clash over establishing supremacy at a CNG stand, leaving Kadir and Siraj dead on the spot and more than 50 injured.

Lilu succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital.

On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Police were carrying out drives to catch the involved people, the ASP added.
