Bangladesh upbeat to secure title today

With two wins out of two matches, the buoyant Bangladesh Mens Cricket team is poised to clinch the title of the five-match T20i series against visiting Zimbabwe by winning the third clash today at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm (BST).

In preparation for the World Cup, Bangladesh are likely to make a few changes to the winning combination to evaluate key players from their pipeline such as Parvez Hossain Emon, Tanzim Sakib and Tanvir Ahmed.

If the Bangladesh think tank is willing, they may bring in Emon as an opener in place of Liton Das, while Sakib could replace Shoriful Islam and Tanvir might be seen in place of leg-spinner Rishad Hossain. It wouldn be surprising if Afif Hossain replaces Jaker Ali Anik.

Despite skipper Nazmul Hossain Shantos struggles with the bat, Bangladeshs top-order batters including Tanzid Tamim, Tawhid Hridoy and Mahmudullah Riyad have been performing well and are capable of guiding the team effectively.

Pace bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin and spinning all-rounders Sheikh Mahedi Hasan have been impressive with the ball so far, as has express bowler Taskin Ahmed.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe has yet to find a way to put up a strong resistance with the bat, particularly in their top order.

They lost their top seven batters for just 41 runs in the series opener and then lost five wickets for 42 runs in the following clash. Sikandar Raza, Craig Ervine and Ryan Burl have failed to live up to expectations, while newcomers Joylord Gumbie, Brian Bennett and Clive Madande have shown some resilience.

Sean Williams was replaced by Johnathon Campbell in the second match and Campbell made an impressive debut by scoring 45 runs.

Wellington Masakadza was sidelined in the earlier game due to a head injury from the first match, was replaced by Ainsley Ndlovu, who performed well with the ball.

Luke Jongwe, Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava have been impactful with the ball in both earlier games and are ready to shine again.

Similar to the previous games, ZACS is likely to favour seamers in the early stages, with opportunities for batsmen to score runs later in the match. The weather forecast predicts heavy rainfall in Chattogram on Tuesday. The team winning the toss may choose to bowl first to take advantage of the early conditions.
