Failed AL govt out to restore hegemony of BCL in BUET: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Sunday, "After destroying the lower level educational system of the country this failed government is making blue print to restore hegemony of Chhatra League in the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET)."

Speaking at BNP Chairpersons Gulshan office at an Iftar Mahfil he said, "Awami League government failed in all aspects. They have destroyed the countrys economy, democracy, health and education. Chhatra League established reign of terror all the universities of the country. Now they want to establish the same environment in the BUET."

BNP Secretary General said, "The border of the country is unprotected. Arms and bank looted in Bandarban. But the government is not able to say clearly who are behind these. They are now blaming the militants to cover their own lapses."

He said, "In the last 15 years, they have killed many democracy-loving youths. The police raided the houses of many and took away their wives, sisters, mothers and children. The fathers of many BNP leaders and activists were tortured and killed."

Fakhrul said, "Our brothers who lost their lives in the movement, we could not establish them in the place of glory, where they will get justice."

He said, "There was hope in the minds of the common people that something would happen in recent general election. But this monster government hammered the last nail on the coffin of democracy on October 28 last year."

"But fire of democracy is burning inside our minds, we are ready to make more sacrifices to protect the motherland. We will defeat injustice, claim rights and establish justice together," said Fakhrul.

Association of Engineers Bangladesh arranged the programme to wish BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia quick recovery, release of imprisoned leaders and activists. Eid gifts were also distributed to the forcibly disappeared leaders families.
