Govt destroyed lawyers dignity, by rigging SCBA election: Rizvi

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said on Tuesday that the government destroyed the dignity of lawyers by rigging the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) election.

"We demanded immediate cancellation of this election and re-election," he said speaking at a press conference at BNP Naya Paltan central office. He said that the government adopted all the tactics in the SCBA election it had used in the general election to tighten its illegal grip in  power.

"By destroying institutions one after another, the government is pushing the country towards a terrible civil war," he said. 
Rizvi said, "Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajol, Secretary candidate of Nationalist Lawyers Unity Panel was jailed for getting involved in  Parash-Taposh internecine and family power conflicts.

He said, "In order to divert peoples attention from this vote fraud and their own misdeeds, Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajol has been arrested in a pre-planned manner by implicating him in fabricated cases. He said that Barrister Kajol was remanded illegally and has been sent to jail custody.

"Shah Manjurul Haque, the candidate of Awami League and has been declared the winner after defeating Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajol in the name of vote recounting," said Rizvi.
