Mayoral polls campaign ends, voting in Msingh, Cumilla tomorrow

Campaigning in Mymensingh and Cumilla city corporation elections and six municipal elections ended on Thursday mid-night.

Election Commissioner Mohammad Alamgir said so far the election environment is good. We have taken all preparations face any unexpected situation.   
Election Commission (EC) Deputy Secretary Atiyar Rahman said local election campaigns must be stopped 32 hours before the start of polling. Our returning officers sent instructions to all the candidates to stop campaign at 12:00pm on Thursday. Voting will begin at 8:00am on Saturday.

Mymensingh City Corporation General Election and Cumilla City Corporation Mayoral by-election and general election of three municipalities of Patuakhali Municipality of Patuakhali district, Bakshiganj Municipality of Jamalpur district and Amtali Municipality of Barguna district.  

Besides Trishal Municipality of Mymensingh district, Munshiganj Municipality of Munshiganj district and vacant post of mayor of Shibganj municipality of Bogra district.

Voting will take place in 233 polling centres on March 9.

In both the city elections, a force of 16-member law-enforcers will be deployed in centres but 17-member team in risky centres to ensure peaceful polling.

Meanwhile, the EC has deployed Police, Armed Police Battalion, RAB and other striking forces to hold the elections.
