Police recovered the body of a teenage girl on Monday from the Kaliganga river in Manikganj district.
The body was recovered around 11:15 am from the river in Beutha area under Manikganj municipality.
The dead was Samia Islam, 15, daughter of Saiful Islam, hailed from Mohichail area under Chandina upazila in Cumilla district. She was a ninth grader at Government Surendra Kumar Girls' High School in Manikganj.
Manikganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Habil Hossain said Samia went missing on Saturday (March 2). The girl's family made a general diary in this regard. Later, on Monday, locals spotted the body of the girl floating in the river and informed police.
On information, police recovered the body and sent to Manikganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Legal steps are underway in this connection, the OC added.
