‘Raising voice of citizens can help prevent terrorism’

KHULNA, Feb 18:  Senior Secretary of the Department of Public Security of the Ministry of Home Affairs Mostafizur Rahman here on Saturday said, raising voice of the citizens can help prevent terrorism, fundamentalism and extremism in the society.
"United voice raising against wrong doing can curb terrorism and extremism across the country," he made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at an awareness-raising meeting on Role of Public Representatives and Stakeholders to control extremism, at Khulna Shilpakala Academy auditorium.
Terrorism Control and International Crime Protection Centre Building Project of Bangladesh Police and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) jointly organized the meeting in cooperation with Khulna District administration, Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) and Khulna District Police.
Chaired by Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Helal Mahmud Sharif, KMP Commissioner Md Mozammel Haque, and DIG of Khulna Range Moinul Haque, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Islamic University of Dhaka addressed the meeting as special guests.
Additional Police Commissioner of CTTC of DMP Md Asaduzzaman delivered the welcome speech. A video documentary about terrorism, fundamentalism and extremism was screened in the beginning of the meeting.
