Man killed in Natore road crash


A man was killed and two others were injured as a truck rammed a auto-van on the Natore-Pabna highway at Baraigram upazila in Natore district on Sunday night.

The accident took place at around 8pm at Coin Bazaar area under the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Faruque Hossain, 55, son of late Abdus Sattar Khalifa, a resident of Kolos village in the upazila. He was a clothes trader by profession.

Meanwhile, the injured Sobuj Hossain Hridoy, 20, and the auto-van driver Hekmat Ali Sheikh, 61, were undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

According to locals, Faruque was returning home after selling clothes in a local market, riding on the van. On the way, a speeding truck hit the van at Coin Bazaar area, leaving him dead on the spot and two others critically injured.

Bonpara Highway Police Station officer-in-charge Habibur Rahman said being informed, police seized the truck from the spot, however, its driver managed to flee the scene.

A case was filed with the police station in this regard and legal action is underway, added the OC.
