Husband held for killing wife in Ashulia

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a man reportedly for killing his wife at Ashulia under Gazipur on Saturday night.

RAB-4, CPC-2 Camp Company Commander Lt Rakib Mahmud Khan confirmed the matter in a press release around 11.30pm on Saturday.
The victim was identified as Sumaiya, 20, son of Monir Uddin, hailed from Malath area under Paikgacha upazila in Khulna district.

According to the press release, the body of the victim was recovered from her rented house at Zirabo area under the union on January 11.

Later, the deceased's brother lodged a murder case with Ashulia Police Station accusing her husband Sheikh Rabbi Hossain.

Following the case, RAB-4 and RAB-6 jointly conducted a raid in Jashore and the arrested Sheikh Rabbi, the press release reads.

"During primary questioning, Rabbi confessed that he strangled Sumaiya to death over a family feud and fled away from the scene," reads the press release.

RAB-4, CPC-2 Company Commander Lt Rakib Mahmud Khan confirmed the matter, adding that legal action would be taken in this regard.
