RAJSHAHI, Jan 6: A Detectives Branch (DB) team of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has detained a BNP man and recovered 10 crude bombs from a polling centre in Rajshahi.
DB Inspector Moshiar Rahman said the nabbed person has been identified as Sujon Hossain Tawhid, 38, who is an aide of city unit Jubo Dal President Mahfijur Rahman Riton.
He said two crude bombs were exploded in Uposhohor and Ghoshpara areas of the city on Friday evening.
During that time BNP activists brought out a procession in support of their 48-hour hartal called by the party from 6am Saturday.
After analyzing the CCTV footage, detectives identified Sujon and arrested him around 12:30am.
Based on information given by Sujon, they recovered 10 crude bombs hidden in two buckets on Uposhohor Government Primary School premises, which is a designated polling centre.
Meanwhile, RMPs bomb disposal unit diffused the bombs at the field at 2.30am.
A case was filed against Sujon and 15 other BNP men with the Boalia Police Station in this regard, the police officer added. —BSS
