New books make students jubilant on first day of New Year

The new textbook distribution programme was held in a festive mood in all the academic institutions at primary and secondary level including the madrasas across the country on Monday, the first day of the New Year.

Textbooks were distributed among students in districts including Barishal, Bogura, Bhola, Joypurhat, Khulna, Kishoreganj, Munshiganj, Natore, Narayanganj, Pirojpur, Rangamati and Sirajganj.  

BARISHAL: Like every year, textbooks distribution started in the district on the first day of the New Year among the students of primary and secondary schools.

Barishal Divisional Commissioner Shawkat Ali inaugurated the programme at Barishal Government Girls High School in the city at around 10:30 am.   

Barishal Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shahidul Islam, Deputy Director of Barishal Region Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Anwar Hossain and Head Teacher of Barishal Government Girls High School Mahbuba Hossain, among others, were also present at that time.

After the inauguration, the guests handed over the new textbooks to the students from class three to nine.
 
A total of 50,33,382 books were distributed among 11,62,572 students of 6,241 primary schools in the district this year.

Besides, 14,87,283 students of 2,393 secondary schools and madrasas in the district received 1,10,70,985 new books.

BOGURA: The textbooks distribution programme began in the district in a festive mood.
 
Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Dr Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir and Bogura DC Md Saiful Islam inaugurated the programme at Bogura Biam Model School and College in the town at around 11 am.

Additional DC (ADC) (General) Mohammad Al Maruf, District Education Officer Hazrat Ali, and Principal of Biam Model School and College Md Mostafizur Rahman, among others, were also present at that time. A total of 56,01,203 books will be distributed among 9,36,998 students at primary and secondary level in the district this year.

Of them, 20,70,000 books were handed over to 4,77,247 students of 2,495 educational institutions in the district on the first day of the New Year.

District Education Officer Hazrat Ali said, 35,31,023 books will be distributed among 4,59,750 students of 746 schools at secondary level in the district.  

BHOLA: A total of 38,82,791 new books were distributed among 7,12,329 students at primary and secondary level including the madrasas in seven upazilas of the district on the first day of the New Year.

The book distribution programme was inaugurated by Bhola DC Arifuzzaman at Bhola Government Boys High School in the town in the morning.

Superintend of Police (SP) Mohammad Mahiduzzaman, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sajal Chandra Shill, District Secondary Education Officer Dipak Halder, Head Teacher of Bhola Government Boys High School Shafiqul Islam, and Head Teacher of Bhola Government Girls High School AKM Saleh Uddin, among others , were also present at the inauguration ceremony.

According to District Primary and Secondary Education Office sources, 12,60,400 books were distributed among 2,89,700 students at primary level while 4,23,329 students at secondary, dakhil, ebtedayee, vocational and technical education level received 26,22,291 new books.
 
FENI: The book distribution programme began in the district on the first day of the New Year like elsewhere in the country.

Feni DC Musammat Shahina Akhter inaugurated the programme at Feni Shishu Niketan Collectorate School in the town at around 10 am.

ADC (Revenue) Momena Akhter, ADC (ICT and Education) Fahmida Haque and District Education Officer Shafi Ullah, among others, also attended the inaugural function.  According to the district administration sources, 16,77,579 books will be distributed among the students at secondary level while 67,08,523 books at primary level  this year.

JOYPURHAT: A total of 11,62,845 new books were distributed among the students at primary, secondary and madrasa level in the district on the first day of the New Year.

Of them, 3,86,793 books were given to 80,858 students of 602 schools at primary level while 5,87,072 and 1,88,980 books to the students at secondary and madrasa level respectively.

ADC (Education and ICT) Md Sabur Ali, as the chief guest, inaugurated the book festival at a programme held on Ramdeo Bajla Government High School Field in the town.  

Head Teacher of Ramdeo Bajla Government High School Imdadul Haque presided over the programme, where Sadar UNO Abdullah Al Mamun and District Primary Education Officer Mofazzal Hossain addressed as special guests.
 
KHULNA: THe textbook distribution festival-2024 was inaugurated on the Khulna Zila School premises in the city on Monday as part of the governments effort of reaching new books to the students on the first day of the New Year. Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Helal Uddin Sharif attended the textbook distribution festival as the chief guest.

Chaired by District Education Officer Farhana Naz, the function was also addressed, among others, by Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commissioner Md Mozammel Haque, Khulna DC Yasir Arefin, Khulna District SP Sayedur Rahman, and Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Khulna Zone Sheikh Md Ruhul Amin.

District Education Officer Ruhul Amin delivered the welcome speech at the progarmme. Later on, the chief guest distributed new books among the students.

Divisional Commissioner Md Helal Uddin Sharif also inaugurated pre-primary and primary books festival at Adarsha Model Government Primary School in the city.

Deputy Director of Primary Education of Khulna Division Md Moslem Uddin presided over the function.

A total of 30,86,645 textbooks will be distributed among 2,60,963 students of 545 secondary and Ebtedai schools while a total of 10, 16,637 textbooks will be distributed among 2,14,131 students of 1,576 primary schools in the city and the district this year.

KISHOREGANJ: The distribution of new textbooks among the students of schools, madrasas and vocational training institutions began in the district like elsewhere in the country on Monday, the first day of the New Year.

A total of 64,76,542 textbooks were distributed among the pre-primary to secondary level students for the 2024 academic session.

Kishoreganj DC Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad formally inaugurated free textbooks distribution programme by giving books to the students at a function held at Sarkari Adarsha Shishu Biddalay in the town in the morning.

District Primary Education Officer Mujib Alam presided over the function.

SP Mohammad Russel Sheikh and ADC Farzana Khanam attended the programme as special guests.

MUNSHIGANJ: Free textbooks distribution festival was held in all the academic institutions in Sirajdikhan Upazila of the district on Monday in a befitting manner.

The free textbooks have been distributed between a total of 2, 38,400 students from 128 primary schools, 57 kindergartens, 37 high schools, and 10 madrasas in the upazila.

The distribution festival was held at Ichapur Government Model High School at around 2 pm.

Sirjadikahn UNO Sabbir Ahmed was present as the chief guest at the programme while Nasir Uddin, headmaster of Eshapara Government Model High School, was in the chair. The programme was also addressed, among others, by Dr Mollika Roy, assistant professor of Psychology Department at Dhaka University, assistant headmasters Jamal Hossain Mia, Narendra Modi, and Nur Muhammad.

NATORE: Free textbooks distribution festival was held in all the academic institutions at primary and secondary levels including madrasas in the district on Monday in a befitting manner.

Natore DC Abu Naser Bhuiyan inaugurated the book distribution programme handing over books to the students of the secondary level schools as the chief guest held on the premises of the Natore Government Girls High School in the town with Head Teacher of the school Abdul Matin in the chair.

Besides, the DC inaugurated the book distribution programme after handing over the books to the students of the primary level schools as the chief guest at Boro Harish Pur Model Government Primary School in the district town at around 11:30 am.

Md Sahaduzzaman, district education officer, addressed both the functions as the special guest. He said 2,17,091 students will get 23,88,000 new books in 470 secondary level schools including dakhil, SSC vocational, dakhil vocational and ebtedayee levels in the district this year.

Md Golam Nabi, district primary education officer, said primary students will get 8,19,000 new books this year.

NARAYANGANJ: A total of 42,17,359 books were distributed among about 6 lakh students at primary and secondary level in five upazilas of the district on the first day of the New Year.

Zilla Parishad Chairman Chandan Shill at Narayanganj High School and College, and City Unit Awami League President Anwar Hossain was present at Narayanganj Morgan Girls High School and College in the city on this occasion.

Narayanganj District Secondary Education Officer Yunus Faruquee said, although the demand is 37,91,858 books for 3,19,302 students at secondary school, madrasa and vocational institutions level in the district this year, 28,17,186 books were already distributed among the students.

District Primary Education Officer Ferdousi Begum said a total of 14,00,173 books were distributed among 3,01,117 students in the district at primary level.

PIROJPUR: Like every year, the book distribution programme began in the district in a festive manner.
 
Pirojpur DC Mohammad Jahedur Rahman formally inaugurated the festival on Monday morning at Karimunnasa Government Primary School in the town as the chief guest.

 ADC (Education) Md Selim Hossain and District Primary Education Officer Kumaresh Chandra Gachi, among others, were also present at the programme.

District Primary Education Officer Kumaresh Chandra Gachi said, books were given to the students of primary schools and girls high schools at the inaugural programme.

RANGAMATI: The festival of free textbook distribution among primary and secondary school students has started in a festive atmosphere in the district on Monday.

Rangamati DC Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Khan inaugurated the festival to students of minority groups including primary and secondary level students at Amanatbagh Government Primary School at around 9 am and Rangamati Government High School at around 10 am.

At that time, ADC (Education and ICT) Nasreen Sultana, District Primary Education Officer Hrishikesh Sheel, ADPEO Mohammad Ikram Ullah Chowdhury, Upazila Education Officer Sadar Kaushik Chakma, head teachers of the schools and parents, among others, were present.

District Assistant Primary Education Officer Mohammad Ikram Ullah Chowdhury said that this year, 3,86,789 books in Bengali version and 63,4,68 books in English version will be distributed among minority students in the district.

SIRAJGANJ: The book distribution programme began in the district like elsewhere in the country on the first day of the New Year.

Sirajganj DC Mir Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman inaugurated the programme by distributing books among the students of Salrha Ishaq Government Girls School on the school premises in the morning.

A total 18,12,477 books were distributed among 4,18,000 students of 1,671 primary and kindergarten schools in the district this year, said District Primary Education Officer Abdur Rahman.

District Secondary Education Officer Kazi Salimullah said there are about 4.5 lakh students in 600 secondary level schools in the district. Of them, 50 per cent students were given the new books on the first day of the New Year while the rest will be provided soon.
