Woman burnt in Magura

MAGURA, May 16: An elderly woman was reportedly burnt to death in Mohammadpur Upazila of the district recently.
The fire incident took place in the house of the deceaseds son-in-law Akkas Molla in Charpara Village under the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Piari Begum, 75.
Quoting locals, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mohammadpur Police Station (PS) Md Borhanuzzaman said as the fire spread out the whole house, all the family members, except Piari, manage to escape the scene.
Piari was trapped inside the house and died on the spot.
The fire might have originated from the kitchen which caused significant damage to the belongings and property within the houses, said the police official.
However, a case was filed with Mohammadpur PS and legal action would be taken in this regard, the OC added.
