Specialized dog squad added to CMP

A specialized dog squad has been added to the Counter Terrorism Unit of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) to combat militancy and terrorism, detect explosives and identify narcotics.

CMP Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy inaugurated this dog squad through an exercise at Mansurabad Police Lines in the city on Sunday.
CMP Commissioner said after the inauguration, ''CMP's crime-fighting capacity has been increased to a great extent by the addition of Dog Squad to CMP. The squad currently has nine canines of which five are capable to detect explosives and four are capable to detect narcotics.''

The present manpower for managing the Dog Squad (Canine) is 27 persons who have received training from Netherlands and DMP, Dhaka.
