Proposal to form Ex-Mayor Forum for development of Ctg

A commemorative discussion meeting on 'People-oriented politics and ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury' was held at Chattogram Press Club's Bangabandhu Hall under the initiative of Chattogram Nagorik Uddyog and Bangladesh Media Center on Friday.

The discussion meeting was organized in memory of former Chattogram City mayor and late Awami League leader ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury.
Journalist Riaz Haider Chowdhury presided over the meeting while five mayors, including incumbent mayor, of the city corporation and Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel were present at the meeting.

Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel, the eldest son of the heavyweight leader, urges all mayors to work together to play a great role for the development of the port city.

"People-oriented politicians should go to Parliament. It is the perfect time to stop the corruption. Responsible public representatives need to be elected to ensure maximum benefits of government initiatives and coordination must be ensured in the development of Chattogram," he said.

He also expressed that there should be a Forum for the former mayors of the city to play the role of a consultant in coordinating the development of Chattogram city.

All such civic proposals have emerged from Chattalbir ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury memorial discussion where Chattogram University Teachers Association President Professor Mustafizur Rahman Siddiqui, Columnist Professor Muhammad Idris Ali, Sector Commanders Forum Chattogram Metropolitan President, former Civil Surgeon Dr Sarfaraz Khan Babul, Dainik Naya Bangla Editor Enayetullah Hiru, Chattogram District PP Advocate Sheikh Iftekhar Saimul Chowdhury participated as guest speakers among others.
