Teknaf Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Pradeep Kumar Saha, withdrawn over the killing of Major (Retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan, was arrested in Chattogram on Thursday.
A high official of RAB said, "We're informed that police arrested Pradeep in Chattogram today. As RAB is the investigating the case filed against him, we thought he will be handed over to us."
Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah issued the arrest warrants
against OC Pradeep and eight others after taking the case into cognizance on Wednesday night.
Later, the case, filed by slain Major (Retd) Rashed's sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdousi, was recorded with Teknaf Police Station on the court order.
Major (Retd) Sinha was killed in police firing in front of Baharchhara Police Outpost at Teknaf in Cox's Bazar district on July 31 last.
Sinha's family members termed the incident as "cold-blooded murder," while police claimed that they opened fire in "self-defence."
