Bangladeshi artist Firoz Mahmud has been nominated for COAL prize from the Coalition for Art and Sustainable Development (COAL) organisation who work in the fields of contemporary art, sustainable development and research in order to promote the emergence of a culture of ecology. COAL reveals the ten international artists nominated for the 2019 COAL Prize and will be awarded in Paris, France in December. Organised in collaboration with the Platform on Disaster Displacement and DISPLACEMENT: Uncertain Journeys, this year's prize invited artists to tackle the critical issue of displacement related to disasters and climate change.

The COAL Prize is supported by the French Ministry of Ecology. It is sponsored by the European Union and the ACT network, the French Ministry of Culture, the Museum of Hunting and Nature, the Fran�ois Sommer Foundation, the Platform on Disaster Displacement and DISPLACEMENT: Uncertain Journeys.
New York based Bangladeshi artist Firoz Mahmud has been working on an art project titling 'Soaked Dream' for the last few years on the issues of exodus, migration, displaced and minority people's dreams and destiny. In recent years he has been exhibiting the artworks at Bangkok Art Biennale, Lahore Biennale, Dhaka Art Summit, Office of Contemporary Art Norway, Sharjah Art Foundation, MAXXI-National Museum of the 21st Century Arts Rome among many others important exhibitions.

Artist Firoz`s works focus on historical, colonial legacies, cultural and mythological landscape from Bangladesh and South Asian region.  Most of his work depicts on evidence and belief. Many of his works are altruistic which he wishes to help dream resilience through making art.
