CHITTAGONG, April 1: A two-day book festival began at the Chittagong Press Club (CPC) on Friday with a view to habituating the new generation to reading books for improving their mental faculty.
Eminent writer and poet Selina Hossain formally inaugurated the book fair at Abdul Khaleque Auditorium of CPC.
CPC has organised the book festival in order to showcase several hundred books written by its members. Addressing the inaugural ceremony as chief guest Selina Hossain said the power of the youths is a source of inspiration for the writers.
She said in the present context of digital Bangladesh, the youths should also read printed books besides going through the technology based articles online.
"They should uphold the printed medium of books and make a way for it so that it can go further side by side with the digital technology", she said adding that the initiative taken by CPC would play vital role in creating journalist writers.
She also hoped that the initiative would reach Kolkata as well as London in future.
Organisers said book lovers would get their favourite books at 30% discount in the festival which will remain open to all from 10am to 8pm.
