Two electrocuted in Habiganj

Two individuals including an elderly man died due to electrocution in separate incidents while cutting tree at two upazilas in Habiganj district.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning at Kalinagar village of Madhabpur upazila, where the elderly man died.

Meanwhile, a young man died at Parajhar village of Chunarughat upazila on Monday night.

The deceased were identified as Abdur Rahman, 75, and Muktar Mia, 26, son of Ayub Ali.

Madhabpur Police Station sub-inspector (SI) Nazmul Islam stated that Abdur Rahman was collecting firewood in a forest near his home around 7:00 AM on Tuesday.

While cutting branches on a tree, he was electrocuted and died on the spot, the SI added.

Chunarughat Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) M Noor Alam said that a tree branch broke in Parajhar village due to a storm on Monday night.

Muktar went to cut the branch near his house late night and was accidentally electrocuted and died on the spot.

Police also stated that the bodies of both individuals sent to the Habiganj District Sadar Modern Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
