Coast Guard arrested a deer hunter along with 110 kilograms of venison while attempting to smuggle it from the Sundarbans.
The arrested individual is Md Ariful Sardan, 24, a resident of Dakop upazila in Khulna district.
Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, a media officer of Bangladesh Coast Guard, reported this information on Tuesday (April 8) evening.
According to Coast Guard sources, acting on a tip-off, a special operation was carried out by Nalian Coast Guard outpost at 10 AM at Nalian Thakur Bari Ghat area adjacent to the Sundarbans.
During the operation, two trawlers were searched and one hunter was arrested with 110 kilograms of venison.
He further mentioned that he seized venison and the arrested individual have been handed over to Nalian Forest Office for further legal action.
The Coast Guard claims that in order to maintain law and order in the country, Bangladesh Coast Guard continues to patrol, significantly improving the law and order situation in coastal and riverine areas under its jurisdiction.
