BNP gets permission to hold rally Friday on 19 conditions

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has given permission to the BNP to hold a peaceful rally in front of its central office at Nayapaltan in the capital on Friday.

BNP will hold the rally demanding the unconditional release of party Chairperson Khaleda Zia and other jailed leaders and the withdrawal of false cases against its acting chairman Tarique Rahman.

The party, however, will have to comply with 19 conditions, said a letter signed by DMP deputy commissioner (operations) Md Abu Yusuf confirmed the matter on Thursday.
The conditions include securing permission from the relevant authorities for the rally venue, making sure the rally is held within the allowed space, not conducting any seditious activities, not compromising public security or disrupting law enforcers, giving instigating speech and more.

Meanwhile, the DMP also gave permission to the ruling Awami League (AL) to hold a ‘peace and development rally’ on Gaznabi Road in Mohammadpur on Saturday (May 11) on 18 different conditions.
