The Friday match between Dhaka Abahani and Bangladesh Police Football Club in the Bangladesh Premier League came with a good opportunity for the traditional sky-blue battalion to level the point margin with its archrival Mohammedan Sporting Club.

That day at 4:00 PM at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj, Abahani will square off against the Police squad in a 15-round bout.
All the teams already played 14 matches in the league. Bashundhara Kings currently leads the pack with 37 points. Mohammedan SC, on the other side, sits second on the point table with 28 points. Abahani, an arch-enemy, is right behind with 25 points. Police boys are in fourth place with 21 points.

The leagues top team will have the opportunity to compete in the AFC Champions League Qualifiers, while the leagues second-place finisher will be eligible to compete in the AFC Cup.

With superior points, the high-spending team, Bashundhara Kings, is comfortably leading the pack. The conglomerate that backs Bashundhara boys also fosters two other BPL rivals, namely Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra. Such a spirited and inspiring team is meant to place top.

So, the other toppers are up to the neck to secure the next available top place. Mohammedan and Abahani are currently neck and neck in the battle for the second spot.

However, the Police team is not that behind in the point race. Thats why Abahani will try and trade cautiously against the Police.

Abahani has pleasant recollections of playing Police FC because the sky-blue battalion has never lost to the Police squad.

Still, when it is the second spot the team is targeting, there is no scope to take anyone lightly at this moment. Therefore, the match is likely to experience a fierce encounter and the fans are to enjoy a good game.
