A Dhaka court has sent Milton Samadder, founder of the charity organisation ‘Child and Old Age Care, to jail on completion of four-day remand in a human trafficking case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farzana Shakila Sumu Chowdhury on Thursday passed the order after rejecting his bail application following a hearing.
Earlier, investigation officer of the case Mohammad Kamal Hossain produced Milton Samadder before the court after completion of four-day remand and pleaded to the court to keep him detained in jail until the investigation ends.
On May 5, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Shanta Akter placed on four-day remand in a human trafficking case filed with the capital’s Mirpur Model Police Station.
On May 2, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain had placed Milton on three-day remand in a case lodged for allegedly issuing fake death certificates to bury people who died in his centre.
According to the case documents, Milton used to run his Child and Old Age Care, posing as a doctor and used to make touching video contents for social networking sites and earn money by posting and publishing those on different sites.
Milton allegedly used to torture the people, who took shelter in his centre, and let them to suffer and subsequently die without giving them proper food and treatment. He is also accused of being involved in human organ trafficking business and used to make fake death certificates to hastily bury people who died in his centre.
On April 25, various fraud allegations against Milton Samaddar surfaced in a national daily.
Following media reports, detectives detained Milton from Mirpur area of the capital on May 1 on his alleged irregularities and crimes centring the care home.
