Mashfia Afrin became the first Bangladeshi tennis official to receive an ITF White Badge and opened her path to conducting ITF-sanctioned international competitions in future.
She passed the ITF White Badge School test held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 24 to 28 April. Besides her, 16 other officials from Malaysia, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Uzbekistan, India, Japan, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Australia, and China took the test.
Previously in January this year, the young gun was the first Bangladeshi female tennis official to be nominated by the International Tennis Federation to officiate the International Junior Tennis Tournament in Delhi, India as an Assistant Referee. By conducting the tournament, she became the first Bangladeshi woman official to officiate any Tennis tournament abroad.
She was an on-court official of the ITF World Junior Tour, Dhaka 2023, and Asian U14 Series Tennis Tournament 2023. She conducted matches as an Assistant Referee at the ITF Asian U14 tournament in January 2023 and at the ITF U12 Championship in May.
Mashfia made the nation proud by officiating the Junior World Tennis Series Dhaka Open in February and the Junior World Tennis Series BKSP Open in March last year with competence.
Sarwar Mostafa Joy was the first Bangladeshi to become the ITF White Badge Chair Umpire in 2000.
