A total of 80 illegal structures were demolished in different areas of Khulna and Pirojpur districts by Roads and Highways Department.
KHULNA: Thirty illegal structures were demolished, and at least 0.84 acres of government land worth about Tk 5.04 crore were recovered in Fultala Upazila of the district on Monday.
RHD, in cooperation with district administration and Khulna Metropolitan Police, jointly conducted the eviction drive in Eastern Gate Bazaar area in the upazila.
Executive magistrates of the district administration Rubayet Ahmed and Mohewshar Mondal led the drive, began at 9am, said Anisuzzaman Masud, executive engineer of the RHD-Khulna.
About 30 illegal structures along both sides of Khulna-Jashore Highway were bulldozed, and these have been freed from illegal occupations, he added.
He further said, the drive will continue until the eviction of all illegal structures along the highway.
Under the government and Local Authority Lands and Building (Recovery of Profession) Ordinance 1970 and Mobile Court Act -2009, the drive was conducted, he maintained.
Executive Engineer of RHD Anisuzzaman Masud, State and Law Officer Senior Assistant Secretary Md Emanur Rahman, among others, were present during the drive.
PIROJPUR: An eviction team of the RHD in the district in a drive on Sunday demolished over 50 illegal installations in the town.
Led by an executive magistrate, the eviction campaign bulldozes these establishments including semi-pucca buildings and wooden houses.
The drive was conducted along with police from PWD to Bangabandhu Chattar, Sadar Upazila, and surrounding areas under Khulna - Barishal highway.
Executive Magistrate Md Yeanur Rahman said, the eviction will continue up to newly constructed Bangamata Begum Fajilatunesa Mujib China-Bangladesh Friendship Bridge and its approach roads of both ends.
Pirojpur-Hularhat Road will come under the drive, he added. Town dwellers are happy for the demolishing drive. Some of illegal occupants made obstacles, but at last they went back, after being failed to show valid documents.
