4 killed in road accidents

At least four individuals lost their lives and several others sustained injuries in separate road accidents in Rajshahi and Barishal on Friday.

Our Rajshahi correspondent reported that three young men were killed and two others injured in a collision involving a truck and two motorcycles in Paba upazila of Rajshahi district. The incident occurred in the Miraripur area on the Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway.
The deceased were identified as Asif Iqbal, 19, from Kasba area in Dakumra upazila; Sweet, 31, from Sutraban area; and Tajul Islam, 25, from Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila. The injured individuals are Zulhas Uddin, 32, from Aliganj village, and Rimon Hossain, 35, from Kasba village, both under Dakumra upazila.

Ali Akbar, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Damkura Police Station, explained that five youths on two motorcycles were traveling towards Rajshahi city when a drum truck, attempting to avoid an auto-rickshaw, collided with them around 4:30 pm.

Three of the youths died instantly, while the two injured were rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Their conditions were reported as critical. The bodies were taken to the hospital morgue for legal procedures.

In a separate incident, our Barishal correspondent reported that a passenger in a CNG-run auto-rickshaw was killed, and two others were injured when a bus collided with their vehicle in Ujirpur upazila of Barishal district.

The accident occurred on the Dhaka-Barishal highway at the Sanuhar area.

The deceased was identified as Golam Kibria, 35, from Dhopabari area in Barishal city. The injured are Mostofa Halder, the auto-rickshaw driver, and Jahidul Islam, another passenger.

OC Tawhiduzzaman of Ujirpur Model Police Station confirmed the incident, stating that the accident occurred when a speeding Hanif Paribahan bus collided with the Barishal-bound auto-rickshaw. The police have seized the bus, and legal actions are underway.
