Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Expo 2024 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) from April 22 to 25. The conference will feature a total of 20 stalls showcasing adaptive activities from various countries.

"Experts from around the globe will discuss transformational adaptation, financial mechanisms, adaptation activity monitoring and evaluation tools, and gender-responsive adaptation in 16 sessions over four days," stated Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury during a press conference at his secretariat office on Wednesday.
Saber added, "The Expo is being organized under the supervision of UNFCCC in cooperation with expert groups from least developed countries and various organizations." UNFCCC Executive Secretary Simon Stiell will also be in attendance at the NAP Expo.

The Environment Minister reported that 383 individuals from 104 countries have registered with UNFCCC to participate in the NAP Expo 2024. Additionally, 550 attendees, including representatives from various ministries, departments, organizations, climate experts, NGO representatives, and students, will participate in the event.

Saber Chowdhury described the NAP Expo as an international forum where countries, organizations, and stakeholders interact and exchange experiences regarding the formulation and implementation of NAPs. Expert meetings will focus on country experiences, best practices, implementation challenges, support needs, and progress assessment related to NAP formulation and implementation.

Furthermore, the NAP Expo serves as a global platform to secure funding from climate funds, including the GCF, for NAP formulation and implementation in climate-vulnerable countries.

The expo will also offer training sessions to identify gaps and needs in the NAP formulation and implementation processes in developing countries. Bangladesh will host various sessions at the NAP Expo 2024.
