Four minor children
drowned in separate incidents at Nageswari upazila of
Kurigram district and Kumarkhali upazila under
Kushtia district on Wednesday.
In Kurigram, two cousins drowned while fishing in a pond at West Sukhati village under Newashi union of Nageswari upazila.
The deceased were identified as Ahad, 5, son of Mominul Islam, and his cousin Afroza, 7, both were residents of Amtola village under the upazila.
Nageshwari Police Station's OC Rup Kumar Sarkar confirmed the death matter and added that the legal actions will be taken in this regard.
Meanwhile in Kushtia, a teen girl and her cousin drowned while bathing in the Gorai River at Kumarkhali upazila.
The deceased were Shefa Khatun, 13, daughter of Akteruzzaman Shamim, a resident of Sherkandi village, and her cousin Sahed Ali, 8, son of Alamgir Hossain, a resident of Joynab village under the same upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Kumarkhali Police Station Akibul Islam confirmed the incident and said they have handed over the bodies to the family members without autopsy upon their request.
