None involved in killing of forest officer will be spared: Saber

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury said on Sunday that the government is trying to ensure maximum punishment for those involved in killing Md Sajjaduzzaman, a beat officer of the forest department in Coxs Bazar.

"Those who were responsible for the killing of Md Sajjaduzzaman will be brought to justice through a transparent process. A special message will be given to prevent such incidents in the future, People involved in such incidents in the past will also be brought to justice. No one involved in the killing will be spared, " he said while handing over a Taka 15 lakh cheque and cash on behalf of his ministry to the father of the deceased beat officer Sajjaduzzaman, according to a release.

Sajjaduzzaman was killed by a mini truck (dumper) of miscreants in Coxs Bazar recently. He said due to the untimely death of Sajjaduzzaman, the family will not face financial crisis, so employment will be given to his wife. The Ministry and the Forest Department will always stand by his family, he added.

Later, the minister visited the grave of the slain beat officer at Vitikandi village at Ghazaria upazila of Munshiganj.
Expressing deep condolences to the family members of Sajjaduzzaman, Saber Hossain said when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was informed about the incident, she also expressed grief and sorrow too.

Chief Conservator of Forests Md Amir Hosain Chowdhury, Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests Gobinda Roy, Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests Md Zahidul Kabir, Deputy Secretary (Forest) Abu Naeem Mohammad Maruf Khan and Forest Conservators RSM Munirul Islam and Abdul Awal Sarkar were present, among others, the release said.
