4 accused sent to jail after second phase of 2-day remand

Four people were sent to jail by a Dhaka court after two phases of remand on charges of shackling, confining and raping a 23-year-old girl at a house in Mohammadpur for 25 days.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Nurul Huda Chowdhury passed the order as Sub Inspector Faruqul Islam, the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, produced the four accused before the court after remand, GRO Uttam Biswas told the Daily Observer on Sunday.
 
The accused are the girls boyfriend Sun, Himel, Rocky and Salma Akhter alias Jhumur.
Earlier on Thursday another court placed  the four gang-rape accused  on a two-day remand in second phase and they had faced police interrogation for  three-day in first phase  in the sensational rape case.

 The case statement is that a 23-year-old woman had been shackled at a flat in Nabinagar Housing in Mohammadpur for 25 days, and gang raped by the accused repeatedly.

They also filmed the crime and threatened her to release the footage on social media. The victim was rescued by police on Saturday after she managed to draw attention of locals by screaming.

The locals then called national emergency service number 999. Later the police rescued the shackled victim from the flat in Mohammadpur.

The victim filed the case with Mohammadpur Police Station on Sunday.
