Two persons were killed when a cement-laden truck ran over a bicycle in Meherpur's sadar upazila on Monday.
The accident took place early in the morning in Chandbil area on the Meherpur-Chuadanga road
One of the deceased was identified as Hasan Ali, 21, son of Liton Ali of Chandbil village. The other deceased’s identity could not be known yet.
Meherpur Police Additional Superintendent Abdul Karim said two young men were going to Meherpur riding on a bicycle from Chandbil village. On the way, a cement-laden truck hit the bicycle. The two died on the spot.
Being informed, two teams of fire service and police rushed to the spot. Police arrested the truck driver Babul from the spot.
Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Meherpur General Hospital morgue.
