Chandpur district task force on Tuesday raided various places in the Meghna river and arrested 15 fishermen red-handed for fishing Jatka.
At the same time, 5,000 meters of net and two wooden boats were seized.
A mobile court sentenced 11 of the arrested fishermen to two months imprisonment and fined four people from Tk 5,000 to Tk 20,000.
Matlab South Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Fatima Sultana conducted the mobile court at Coast Guard Chandpur Station on Tuesday night.
Chandpur Sadar Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Tanjimul Islam confirmed it.
He said that on Tuesday from 11 am to 4 pm Sadar Upazila Fisheries Department, Coast Guard and Navy conducted a joint operation to protect Jatka in the sanctuary area of the Meghna River. At that time, 15 fishermen were arrested for fishing Jatka. They were later jailed and fined by a mobile court. Convicted fishermen were sent to prison and the seized nets were destroyed by fire.
