Mominul joins Rangpur at halfway of BPL

Title aspirant Rangpur Riders confirmed the service of Mominul Haque at the halfway mark of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Rangpur indeed took the opportunity of the BPL rules of recruiting players from the draft at any time of the tournament.
The reason to acquire the service of Mominul is to get a dependable top order player who can hold together the innings, reports Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.

Rangpur's top order looked weakened after the departure of Babar Azam who not only opened the innings, but also gave the side stability by his quality batting on slow wicket.

Brandon King and Rony Talukdar so far partnered with former Pakistan captain Babar in opening the innings. Rony of late hit back to form but King's form is still worrisome.

Mominul played the last BPL for Comilla Victorians in 2021-2022. He however played just four matches in that edition but there was no taker for him in the last season.

This season too, no franchise showed any interest towards him. But Rangpur eventually took his service, making it sure that he won't be BPL snubbed for the consecutive two seasons.

His Test specialist tag is basically the reason that the franchise didn't show their interest to acquire his service in the prime T20 tournament of the country.

Despite not being regular in BPL, Mominul remains the 16th highest run-getter in the tournament by scoring 1364 runs in 71 innings of 82 matches. His strike rate is 107.48, which is poor by T20 standard but if it is compared to the strike rate of other Bangladeshi batters, it won't look that poor.
